Wisdom Tree (WisdomTree) ETFs

Being a new company on the mutual fund field, Wisdom Tree immediately caught the attention of the media in its establishment in 2006. Wisdom Tree funds are distinguished from the rest of the mutual funds thanks to their concentration on fundamentally weighted indexes. As a result they don't focus their attention on market-cap weighted indexes as most of the mutual funds do. The valuation of the WisdomTree ETFs can be executed in two ways:

1. The amount of cash dividends paid by each company constituting the corresponding index
2. The dividend yield of the corresponding company in every index.

The initial funding of the WisdomTree was provided by its chairman Michael Steinhardt, which was in the amount of $9 million. His initial investment quickly increased to the amazing $500 million by the use of hedge funds. Unfortunately, Steinhardt's losses in 1995 made him quit the industry.
